A Special Coronation Recipe for King Charles III
Today’s recipe for Buckingham Palace Fruit Scones is a right Royal recipe. Every year, The Royal Residences cater for several Garden Parties, where over 27,000 cups of tea, 20,000 sandwiches and 20,000 slices of cakes are consumed!
Along with the cups of tea, sandwiches, and cakes, it would not be a Royal Garden Party without Scones, with Jam and of course, Clotted Cream.
Today’s recipe for Buckingham Palace Fruit Scones was shared by The Royal Pastry Chefs, and is just in time for the upcoming historic occasion of King Charles III’s Coronation.
Said to be a favourite of the lates Queen, who had a very sweet tooth, these scones have fruit in them, as in British dried fruit; however you can omit it if you cannot source it, or prefer a sweet, plain scone.
Serve these Royal scones with jam and cream, and a pot of freshly brewed tea naturally. I have a recipe for proper tea here: The Perfect Pot and Cup of English Tea with Trumpers Tea & Betty Twyford.
This is the FIRST recipe of SEVEN NEW recipes that I am sharing for the Coronation of King Charles III.
SO watch out for the other recipes, which I will be sharing over the next 10 days……they are:
- Coronation Two Cheese Quiche with Asparagus
- Coronation Potato Salad
- Cheese Savoury Sandwich Filling
- Coronation Chicken Sandwich Filling
- Cream Cheese & Minted Cucumber Sandwich Filling
- English Strawberries & Cream Coronation Trifle
I have been creating these recipes as part of my ongoing ambassadorship with Burleigh Pottery. They sent me a wonderful selection their REGAL PEACOCK china.
I LOVE being an ambassador for Burleigh, as it is all made in England – or to use their new tagline, ALL MADE HERE.
Here’s what they say about their gorgeous pottery:
“Every piece of Burleigh has been MADE HERE in the town of Burslem, ‘The Mother Town’, since 1851. Every piece of Burleigh has been MADE HERE at our home, Middleport Pottery in Stoke-on-Trent, since 1889. When we say MADE HERE, we mean from start to finish; our craftspeople turning raw malleable clay into to the glossy vibrant ware you see here. When we say MADE HERE, we mean crafted using skills passed down through generations of potters who worked here. Every single piece.”

Notes
Every year at Garden Parties across The Royal Residences, over 27,000 cups of tea, 20,000 sandwiches and 20,000 slices of cakes are consumed! The Royal Pastry Chefs are happy to share their recipe for fruit scones, which traditionally would be served at Buckingham Palace every summer.
For UK readers, substitute the plain flour and baking powder for SR flour if you wish.
You can use mixed fruit for an extra fruity taste in place of sultanas.

King Charles 3! Still can’t get used to it 🙂 Scones are great with jam and cream – jam first of course.
