*Commissioned Work*
My recipe for BBQ Greek Style Salmon Kebabs was specially commissioned by Alaska Seafood UK and Blogilicious for National Barbecue Week earlier this month.
We all love salmon, and especially Alaskan wild salmon – the colour and taste is so vibrant, and it’s super healthy too, which works well with my healthy eating diet.
My recipe for BBQ Greek Style Salmon Kebabs is shared below, and it’s perfect for a weekday family meal, a BBQ, or for a lazy weekend lunch.
More about Alaskan Salmon
More about Alaskan salmon: Seafood and salmon in particular from Alaska, wild, natural and sustainable. The salmon swim wild in the icy Pacific Ocean, and it’s this freedom to swim and the fish’s natural diet which creates such an amazing taste and texture.
Furthermore, Wild Alaska seafood has no artificial colouring, preservatives, pesticides or GMOs. Alaska’s fish live in some of the cleanest waters in the world.
Nutritional benefits of eating wild Alaska seafood
Let’s talk about the Nutritional benefits of eating wild Alaska seafood: it’s an excellent source of lean protein as well as other important vitamins and minerals including amino acids, selenium, vitamins E, C, D, and A, which helps to build and maintain stronger muscles which results in greater mobility, strength and dexterity.
Sockeye salmon, which I used in this recipe, has the widest range of availability in the UK and can be found smoked, chilled or in tins.

BBQ Greek Style Salmon Kebabs – Made with Alaskan Salmon and perfect for a summer BBQ. Can be prepared and marinated ahead of time.
Ingredients
- 900g fresh Alaska wild sockeye salmon, skinned
- 2 lemons, finely sliced
- 2 tablespoons finely chopped fresh oregano leaves
- 2 tablespoons sesame seeds
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1/2 teaspoon steak seasoning or grill seasoning
- 1/4 teaspoon chilli flakes
- Oil for barbecuing (I used garlic and lemon oil)
Instructions
- Cut salmon into 2” chunks/cubes.
- Mix the oregano, cumin, steak/grill seasoning and chilli flakes together and pour it into a shallow baking dish.
- Add the salmon pieces to the mix and turn them over to cover each piece completely in the mixture.
- Starting with a piece of salmon, thread the salmon on to a soaked bamboo or metal skewer; add a slice of folded lemon and continue to add 4 x salmon pieces and 3 lemon slices to each skewer, ending with a piece of salmon.
- Drizzle or spray a little oil over each skewer and leave to marinate for 1 hour before barbecuing.
- Light the barbecue and allow it to get hot before placing the salmon skewers directly on to the BBQ grill.
- Cook for 6 to 8 minutes turning the skewers half way through cooking - the salmon should be opaque and flaky when cooked.
- Serve immediately with salad, potatoes and/or pitta bread.
Notes
Sliced peppers, limes and onions can be used in these kebabs too.
Other cuts of fresh salmon can be used.,
Omit the chilli peppers for those who don't like spicy heat.
Garlic granules or minced garlic also works in this recipe.
Use dried oregano when fresh oregano is out of season - 1 teaspoon.
