Snowman
A frivolous and fun post today and a Christmas activity for busy mums (or dads and grandparents) to do with their wee ones ~ something easy to make as a gift for a teacher or their classmates, no cooking or fiddly preparation, just assembling and packing ~ it’s Snowman Soup on a Mug!
This gift idea and photos was originally submitted by me and published in Country Kirchen magazine in 2009, but as I am progressing through my Advent Calendar I thought it would be a nice idea to share with you all on day eight, the snowman window day! The Snowman animated film by Raymond Briggs is my favourite modern Christmas film……..why……..well, it was the first film I watched after taking my newborn baby daughter home from hospital; she was born three weeks early on the 13th of December ~ and the song “walking in the air” still makes me feel all nostalgic and a little weepy, given that she is now a young woman in her early twenties.
This is not a long post today ~ I am really busy this week and all of a sudden a flurry of invitations to Christmas parties and festive gatherings have landed on my doormat, but I did want to share this with you, if only as a bit of light-hearted fun…..see you later.
Karen.

Karen, it's a gorgeous idea, I'm going to make one for my daughter's teacher and her assistants. And the film, it certainly brings back memories of those early days with a small baby, my eldest is 25 on the 11th! There is something lovely about a baby near Christmas.

Another lovely idea Karen and an excellent Christmassy post. I'm a bit soppy and adore the Snowman – good to hear what it means to you. Just thinking about your wonderful orange liqueur, which I keep having to taste test to see if it's ready!!!! A miniature bottle of that would go nicely in your hot chocolate in a mug gift too – assuming it's for adults!

Great idea, not only for teachers either. My youngest was looking at Christmas mugs on Saturday – Cath Kidston does a couple of very pretty mugs, this "snowman soup" would go down very well indeed.

That's a fun idea. Not my favourite thing, but I know a lot of people love marshmallows in their hot choc.

What a great idea! I love the poem and the candy cane for a stirrer – definitely use that this year!

This is such a cute idea. I love the little poem. Though I'd definitely change add water to add milk. It's the only way to make hot chocolate.

Now this is definitely going in my three children's stockings as they love hot chocolate in any shape or form, although I might have to get a can of squirty cream too! Xx

Great idea! I did homemade hot cocoa mix last year to add to everyone's presents, but this would just put it over the top. Love it!
