If you are looking to start off 2019 in the right way , with a bit of sunshine, I’ve got some ideas for you. There is no better way to bring some joy to your life in the cold winter months than by jetting off to a luxurious destination. After Christmas has come and gone, and we have had a few months to put some money back in the bank, it seems the perfect time to treat ourselves. That being said, please do read on to discover some great suggestions on five destinations that will provide the early summer sun you are seeking.
1. Sardinia
What better place for a beautiful escape than Sardinia? This island is situated approximately 180km off the Italian mainland. It perfectly embodies everything that the Mediterranean is about; stunning and varied landscape, golden beaches, and crystal clear waters. As we move into April, Sardinia benefits from approximately seven hours of sunshine per day. You can expect highs of 18⁰c during April and highs of 22⁰c during May. Moreover, as Sardinia is situated in Europe you don’t have to travel far. You could even travel in style with a private jet. You may think affordable private jets are a myth but you would be surprised, and what a great way to start off your holiday in style.
2. Mauritius
Mauritius, situated in the Indian Ocean, is one of the best locations for an early summer getaway. This is a place that is often described as paradise. If you can envisage spending your days lazing on the beach or exploring the depths of the ocean, this is the perfect place for you. Temperatures reach a high of 30⁰c in April and 28⁰c in May, meaning the sooner you go the better. There is also plenty to see and do. You can go dolphin spotting, indulge in water sports, and visit the Chamarel Coloured Earth.
3. Cyprus
Cyprus has long been a popular tourist destination. Temperatures are pleasant all year round, with some showers and storms in the winter. Spring, though, is a popular choice with lots of people, especially those who don’t like the blazing heat of the summer. The great thing about Cyprus is the fact that there is something for everybody. The likes of Paphos and Protaras are ideal for family vacations. And whilst Ayia Napa may be party central in the summer, it offers a relaxing and beautiful destination for an early summer holiday. Nissi Beach, situated in Ayia Napa, is arguably the best in the whole of the country. At one end, you have the quiet, serene beach life, and at the other, you have a beach bar and party music, so you really can cater your days to suit your mood.
4. St. Lucia
Most people dream of a vacation to the Caribbean. The great news is, if you book after Easter time you can easily make this dream a reality. Low season rates come into force, allowing you to pick up a bargain. Don’t let the term ‘low season’ put you off. This is because there is a greater chance of rainfall. However, it is July onwards when rainfall becomes a little heavier. Furthermore, you can expect temperatures to reach a high of 29⁰c during April and May.
5. The Algarve
Last but not least, why not consider a trip to Portugal? The Algarve is an ideal choice, after all, it is a location that has a reputation for its pristine beaches. The secluded coves and dramatic cliffs really make this destination picture perfect. The Algarve is also one of Europe’s top surfing destinations. Over the early months of the year, you can expect temperatures to reach a high of 22⁰c and you will benefit from nine to twelve hours of sunshine per day.
So there you have it: here’s some of the best places to visit in 2019 if you want a bit of sunshine but you don’t want to wait until the summer. All of the five places mentioned above are beautiful in their own right, offering stunning scenery, lovely weather, and a wide range of activities to enjoy too, and I am sure you won’t be disappointed.
