Scones, Jam and Cream with a Pot of Tea!
Tomorrow, the 24th June 2016, is a very special day, it’s a date in the food calendar which is close to my heart, it’s National Cream Tea Day. Organised by Rodda’s and Tiptree, two quintessential British companies, one in cream and one in jam, it’s a brilliant idea to liberate those tea pots, dust off your best china and sling a gingham pinny on readiness to make a batch of scones! In order to make sure you are all WELL prepared, I have complied some Recipes for National Cream Tea Day here on Lavender and Lovage today, to aid you in your search for all things jam and cream!
So, whether you be celebrating this day at home with the family, or hosting a charity cream tea, you should be tempted by all the recipes I have on offer today. I have all sorts of scones, jam and even a savoury relish and savoury cream to share, and also some top tips on how to make the perfect cup of tea. And, for a bit of light reading, why not read all about the history of cream teas, or check out the etiquette too! I have to dash now, as I need to make a batch of scones myself, but I hope these recipes will inspire you to enjoy one of Britain’s finest culinary institutions – the Cream Tea! Karen
