New Year Cocktails, Mocktails and Christmas Leftovers
Sugar Plum Fairy Cocktail
Hello! I have been absent for a few days, as some of you might have noticed, enjoying Christmas and the ensuing festive period, with family and friends. I’m back today to share some of my festive moments, as well as a pretty delectable cocktail, that would be just perfect for New Year’s Eve…….the cocktail in question is a Sugar Plum Fairy, so called, as it contains a liberal dose of Belvoir Fruit Farms Apple, Plum and Cinnamon cordial. This indulgently rich cordial is made from lovely, crisp, real pressed apple juice, perfectly balanced by the sweet notes of Californian prune plum juice. Mix it with hot water to enjoy the deliciously fragrant vapours, or, mix it with Cognac, Champagne and pomegranate Juice, as I did, for a very festive drink.
We enjoyed this cocktail on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, as we were decorating the tree with chocolates and were opening our presents……it’s a light, fruity cocktail with a hint of warm cinnamon spices and a bit of a sparkle and kick with the added Cognac and Champagne – just the tipple for the festive season and so pretty too. As well as being perfect for Christmas, this would be fabulous for New Year’s Eve, or indeed any celebratory occasion. I love Belvoir cordials, and just before Christmas, I was lucky enough to receive several bottles of their seasonal winter range that comprised: SPICED WINTER BERRIES CORDIAL, SPICED APPLE & GINGER CORDIAL, HONEY, LEMON & GINGER CORDIAL, SPICED WINTER BERRIES CORDIAL, MULLED WINTER PUNCH and APPLE, PLUM & CINNAMON CORDIAL that was used in this sparkling, festive cocktail.
As well as my cocktail recipe for Sugar Plum Fairy that I am sharing today, they have some LOVELY cocktail recipes over on the Belvoir Fruit Farms site, some non-alcoholic too, for the designated drivers…….here’s a few that caught my attention……..
Is it a pudding or a cocktail?
As well as these recipes, the recipe for my cocktail is shared below…..on a printable recipe card format. It’s also a time for leftovers, and I have two commissioned recipes for leftovers on Great British Chefs that may be useful for all of your turkey, stuffing and vegetables, Turkey “Wellington” Plait……
……and Vegetable “Muffin” Puffs – both recipes use Christmas leftovers and are particularly tasty, making a hearty family supper or brunch.
In addition to my recipes today, I thought it would be nice to share some of my festive, foodie photos today…….so, sit down and enjoy the virtual meals I am about to share!
And now for my Cocktail! The Sugar Plum Fairy is JUST the cocktail to welcome in 2015, and I hope you manage to try one! That’s it for today, I will be back before the New Year with more recipes and some blog challenge round-ups, Bye for now, Karen
