Basically Famous Salad Dressing
~ Gastronomical Sovereignty ~
It’s that time again, Reveal Day for the Secret Recipe Club – and it seems to have flown around so quickly this time! I usually make my recipes almost as soon as I am given my “secret partner”, but this time, I only just managed to make my recipe this weekend – I have been SO busy and also not very well – the usual summer flu’ bug finally caught up with me…….but, this recipe fits in rather nicely with the start of salad season, and as I have been waxing lyrical about salads and salad dressings lately, I wanted to try a new dressing to add to my salad dressing arsenal……...Basically Famous Salad Dressing is a great little black dress of a salad dressing from Kristy over at Gastronomical Sovereignty, who was my secret partner this month. Kristy’s blog is a fabulous collection of witty posts, with stunning photography as well as lush sounding recipes……and I could have picked any one of many delicious sounding meals, but salads it was for me this weekend, as I have not been eating very much since becoming ill.
Kristy’s byline on her blog is “One woman’s ethical culinary adventures…..with wine of course” and that sits VERY comfortably with me! And this salad dressing was developed as she had an epiphany moment on tasting some rather nice Venturi-Shulze’s balsamic vinegar. I LOVE a good Balsamic Vinegar and as I have some stashed away in my pantry, and as I also COLLECT salad dressing ideas and recipes, this was rustled up in a trice and enjoyed with a simple platter of lettuce leaves, cucumber and tomatoes.
Kristy is a fascinating person, and I LOVED reading all about her on About Me page……..for for example, I was interested to read that she took a course in her second year of university called “Women, Food, & Culture”………that sounds like JUST my cup of tea! If you want to learn more about Kristy and what makes her tick, take a trip over there now…….About Me. Kristy’s interests are as wide and diverse as her recipes…….

Basically Famous Salad Dressing
Ingredients:
1 C Extra Virgin Olive Oil.
5 – 7 Tbsp Quality Balsamic Vinegar (you can use the cheap stuff but it won’t have the refinement in flavour and texture that the good stuff does).
Juice of Half a Lemon.
Kosher Salt & Fresh Cracked Pepper.
What to Do:
Throw all the ingredients into an old mason jar.
Shake.
Eat.
And if you fancy making another salad dressing as well as Kristy’s, then do take a look at my ~ Fantastique Jam Jar French Dressing ~ that I posted yesterday, and keep your eyes peeled for more salad recipes to follow over the next few weeks too! That’s all for now, although I have lots more to share later…….have a wonderful sunny day and see you soon, Karen

Great SRC pick – goes well with your previous salad post! As I said previously I can’t have salad without dressing so am making notes of your salad dressings so I can have some variety this summer. Homemade is so much nicer and cheaper too!
