Today’s recipe for Hoisin Pork, Broccoli and Spicy Rice was made from start to finish in my Ninja Foodi OP300UK, a very clever all-in-one machine that is a pressure cooker, slow cooker, air fryer and has a grill! I am a bit a of a gadget addict, as long as the gadget delivers what it says on the box and aids my busy cooking schedule, then they always have a place in my kitchen. Today’s recipe was cooked from start to finish in the Ninja Foodi TenderCrisp Pressure Cooker, and I must admit that I was impressed with the results. I will share the recipe below in step-by-step photos, but for now, what can this machine do exactly?
As you can see from the photos above, it is a large machine with a generous capacity, even a whole chicken is cooked with ease. The publicity blurb says this:
Cook up to 70% faster in the Ninja Foodi – the only pressure cooker that crisps.
Exclusive TenderCrisp Technology cooks and crisps food to golden-brown perfection.
Multiple cooking functions in one pot. Pressure cook up to 70% faster than traditional cooking methods. Air fry crispy fried food with up to 75% less fat than deep-frying. Slow cook, steam, sear, sauté, bake, roast and grill tasty meals.
Thus far I have cooked curry, stew and also chips in it, using just the pressure cooker function and the crisping function separately. But today’s recipe for Hoisin Pork, Broccoli and Spicy Rice was cooked using BOTH the pressure cooker and TenderCrisp function together in one recipe, and it was so easy with the meal being on the table in under half an hour after prepping the food. All you have to do is to take the pressure cooker lid off after the pressure cooker has been used, and close the TenderCrisp lid, it’s that easy. (See the photo above the cooked chicken)
So far I have been very impressed with all of the functions, which are as follows:
Multiple Cooking Functions
For versatile results in one pot, you can also easily switch between multiple cooking functions using intuitive touchscreen controls.
Air Fry crispy chips, golden vegetable crisps and guilt-free fried food with little to no oil, using up to 75% less fat than traditional frying methods.
Pressure Cook quick, tender, juicy meals up to 70% faster than traditional cooking methods¹. Super-heated steam quickly cooks delicious steaks, chilli, desserts and more.
Slow Cook to ensure your meal is ready when you get home, from tender pulled pork to casserole and risotto. You’re in control with adjustable time settings and High and Low cooking temperatures.
Roast golden vegetables, grill tender chicken breasts, steam delicate fish, sauté onions and bake tasty cakes to perfection. Versatile temperature settings give you complete control.

Pro’s and Con’s:
Pro’s
- It literally replaces a cooker in many ways as it has so many functions such as a grill, pressure cooker, slow cooker and steamer.
- It was very easy to set up and use, the instruction booklet was very concise and the cooking cheat sheet is a fabulous idea – I have it in a plastic sleeve in a kitchen drawer.
- It is dish washer safe, which is very handy, although I find it easy to wash by hand most of the time.
- The large capacity means you can cook large joints of meat and whole chickens.
- There is less mess, as you can do everything in ONE pot, including grilling!
Con’s
- Cost – the cost at £199:00 may be prohibitive to many people on a budget, but as I said above, it is like a complete mini cooker with many functions.
- It’s a very large beast, and heavy, so you need to make space for it in your kitchen. I keep mine in its box without the packing in my pantry.
Recipe:
Hoisin Pork, Broccoli and Spicy Rice
(Serves 2: Prep time – 15 minutes: Cooking time including release of pressure – 20 minutes)
Ingredients:
100g long grain white rice
150ml chicken stock
1 tablespoon soy sauce
100g finely diced vegetables – I use carrots, onions and leeks (You can use frozen vegetables too)
1/2 teaspoon Chinese Five Spice powder
1/2 teaspoon garlic granules
1/4 teaspoon chilli flakes
Salt and pepper, to taste
2 x pork tenderloin steaks, trimmed of fat, about 100g to 125g each
1/2 head of broccoli, trimmed and cut into small florets
Olive oil
2 tablespoons Hoisin sauce
Method:
- Place the rice, stock, soy sauce, diced vegetables, spices, salt and pepper into the cooking pot. Stir well.
- Place the pork loin steaks on the rack sitting over the top of the rice mixture
- Put the Pressure Cooker lid on and set it to Pressure on High for 2 minutes. Select Start/Stop to start cooking.
- Whilst the rice and pork are cooking, toss the broccoli in olive oil to coat, about 1 tablespoon.
- When the pressure cooking has been completed, allow it to release for 10 minutes before turning the pressure release valve to Vent. Once the pressure has been released, carefully open the lid.
- Brush the top of the pork loin steaks with the Hoisin sauce and arrange the broccoli florets on the rack around the pork.
- Close the crisping lid and set the function to Grill for 8 minutes. Select Start/Stop to start cooking.
- Once the cooking time has elapsed, serve the pork and broccoli with the rice.
